Chloe Ross is the founder of The Studio Violin, a Suzuki violin studio located in Lafayette, California. Founded in 2015, The Studio Violin is a warm and welcoming studio offering expert instruction in violin studies for children ages 3 to 18.

Chloe began studying violin at the age of three, in Seattle, Washington under the tutelage of Kathleen Boyer- second violinist with The Seattle Symphony. As a “Suzuki kid” herself, Chloe attended many institutes around the country including the advanced Japan-Seattle and Ithaca College Suzuki Institutes. Along with her Suzuki studies, she was also a member of The Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra program.

In 5th grade, Chloe moved across the country to begin musical studies at The Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. As a student at Longy, she studied music theory, music composition and history, and performed in monthly masterclasses with many notable renowned violinists. She was the youngest ever admitted member of The Longy Youth Chamber Orchestra, becoming concert master after only a short time with the ensemble. International tours include Canada, Mexico, Germany and the Czech Republic.

Continuing at Longy to receive her Certificate of Violin Performance, Chloe has competed in many competitions performing some of the world’s most iconic violin repertoire both solo and with orchestra.

Principal teachers include Clayton Hoener- principal second violinist of The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, as well as main study with the late Janet Packer- former Longy School of Music String Department Chair and acclaimed soloist. Secondary study with Mark Lakirovich, Sophie Vilker and Roman Totenberg.

In 2010 , Chloe moved back to Seattle and became a section violinist with The Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Adam Stern.

She has since relocated to California and opened her private studio, to share her love of studying the violin with others. Chloe is strongly influenced by those early years as a Suzuki student, and believes wholeheartedly in the magic of the Suzuki Method. She has studied Suzuki violin pedagogy with Charles Krigbaum and Kathleen Spring and is a registered Suzuki teacher under The Suzuki Association of the Americas, and an active member of her local chapter, The Suzuki Association of Northern California.

For the past three years, The Studio Violin has been located in Fremont, California. Beginning in July 2018, the studio will be relocating to Lafayette, California.

Chloe currently plays and performs on a 2002 Douglas Cox “Vieuxtemps” Guarneri del Gesu violin, and has been featured as a spotlight violinist on the Cox Violins Website.

“My two daughters started violin lessons with Chloe about two years ago and it has been such a wonderful experience for the entire family. She is passionate about teaching and it shows at every lesson. My daughters look forward to lessons and I have truly enjoyed attending as well. Chloe is so enthusiastic and makes every lesson fun. Her lessons are very organized with just the right amount of information given out at a time. My younger daughter who initially showed no interest in playing the violin, is now working on Perpetual Motion and has grown to love the instrument! Thank you, Chloe, for being so patient and always encouraging her. My older daughter has blossomed from playing Bunny Ballad pieces to Gossec Gavotte and is now ready to start Book 2! Chloe is an amazing teacher as well as a very talented violinist! I highly recommend her to anyone searching for a violin teacher.”
